Machine Operator

Job Summary:

Join AT&T as a Machine Operator and play a crucial role in installing and maintaining state-of-the-art technology to ensure our customers have access to the world's most robust network. You'll work independently in the field, placing buried service wire using various machinery and tools. Your responsibilities include coordinating work activities with customers, local utilities, and government agencies, providing installation, repairs, maintenance, and reconnection of fiber and copper services while adhering to safety practices and delivering exceptional service.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Locate buried facilities and wire routes using appropriate equipment.
• Operate company vehicles with trailers and machinery for wire placement.
• Conduct manual excavation using shovels.
• Provide repairs to low voltage buried utilities, sprinkler systems, and sewage field lines.
• Perform periodic maintenance and non-complex repairs to equipment.
• Follow safety practices and procedures, including manufacturer's specifications for equipment operation.
• Update work status and check new assignments using computers and handheld devices.
• Complete on-the-job and/or classroom training as required.
• Demonstrate competency in training requirements during the probationary period.
• May be required to travel out of the region/state due to workload and emergency work.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Ability to work Monday through Friday with 8-hour shifts and mandatory overtime/holidays as needed.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Proficiency in utilizing various types of machines and tools.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 120 pounds.
• Light commercial driver’s license or equivalent required, depending on state law.
• Attainment and maintenance of a DOT medical card.
• Previous operating experience with similar equipment is desirable.
